Since I write about fashion, I’d like to think I’m the kind of person who plans perfectly styled workout outfits. In reality, I’m grabbing whatever’s clean and hoping for the best. The one exception? A matching workout set. It’s the easiest way for me to look like I have it together at the gym—even when I _definitely_ don’t. Over the past few years, I’ve found a few favorites from my go-to brands like [lululemon](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/style/a64744467/best-lululemon-items/), [Alo](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/style/a63603176/alo-yoga-review/), [Beyond Yoga](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/style/a70942171/beyond-yoga-spacedye-racerback-top-review/), and a few [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FPVY6XQY?tag=womenshealth-auto-20) gems.

## **What to Consider**

## **Materials**

- **Elastane/Spandex:** This is the fiber responsible for stretch in your workout gear. It’s typically blended with materials like polyester or nylon to add flexibility and shape retention. Most workout clothes include anywhere from 2% to 30%, depending on how much stretch or compression the piece needs.
- **Polyester:** Polyester naturally repels water, wicks sweat like a pro, and dries quickly, making it ideal for high-intensity workout clothes. It’s also lightweight, breathable, and durable—plus, it won’t shrink or wrinkle easily. You’ll find it in everything from running tops to everyday training gear, where staying cool and dry matters most.
- **Nylon:** Nylon gives workout clothing that ultra-smooth feel. It’s softer and more “buttery” than polyester and typically comes with a flattering matte finish. It’s also super durable, which is why it often shows up in leggings. Compared to polyester, it has a slightly thicker structure that lends itself well to compression and sculpting—but it can run a bit warmer and take longer to dry.
- **Cotton:** This natural (aka plant-derived) fabric is comfortable and breathable, but doesn’t dry sweat as quickly as synthetic materials like polyester and nylon. It also doesn’t provide stretch or compression like elastane. Look for low percentages of cotton in workout gear that you actually want to sweat in, and higher percentages in your recovery sets or loungewear.

## **Activity**

- **Running:** A great running set should feel breathable and unrestrictive—snug enough to stay in place, but stretchy and roomy enough to move with you mile after mile. Breathable, sweat-wicking fabric is key, and I always look for silhouettes that don’t ride up or chafe once the pace picks up. For running, I reach for the [Rhone LightSpeed Short](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rhone.com%2Fproducts%2Fwomens-lightspeed-short%2F%3Fvariant%3D47088614375616) and[LightSpeed Tank](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rhone.com%2Fproducts%2Fwomens-lightspeed-tank%2F%3F).
- **HIIT:** HIIT workouts demand a set that can keep up with quick, explosive exercises and high-impact moves. Look for styles with a secure fit and mild-to-moderate compressive feel that minimize bounce, plus moisture-wicking fabric to keep sweat in check. The [Aritzia Golden Butter Cheeky Hi-Rise Legging](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aritzia.com%2Fus%2Fen%2Fproduct%2Fbutter-cheeky-hi-rise-28%2522-legging%2F124303.html%3Fcolor%3D36285) and [Vibrant Tank](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aritzia.com%2Fus%2Fen%2Fproduct%2Fbutter-vibrant-tank%2F123555.html%3Fcolor%3D36285) are a great choice, along with the [Splits59 Robbie Airweight Bra](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.splits59.com%2Fproducts%2Frobbie-airweight-bra-7%3Fvariant%3D44406852091949) and [Sam High-Waist Rigor 7/8 Legging](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.splits59.com%2Fproducts%2Fsam-high-waist-rigor-7-17%3Fvariant%3D44407865573421).
- **Strength Training:** For strength training, I prefer workout tops and bottoms with moderate compression that offer support without limiting mobility. The best options stay put through deadlifts and presses, and are opaque enough that you’re not thinking about coverage mid-set. The flattering [Spanx CurveTheory Full-Length Leggings](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fspanx.com%2Fproducts%2Fspanxshape-curvetheory-full-length-leggings%3F) and [High Neck Shelf Tank](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fspanx.com%2Fproducts%2Fspanx-curvetheory-high-neck-shelf-tank%3F) check all the right boxes, but when I want a set with less coverage, I reach for the [Beyond Yoga Spacedye Slim Cropped Tank](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fbeyondyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fspacedye-slim-racerback-cropped-tank-nocturnal-navy-sd4382%3F&sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.womenshealthmag.com%2Fstyle%2Fg46871330%2Fbest-workout-tops-for-women%2F&xs=1&xcust=%5Butm_source%7C%5Butm_campaign%7C%5Butm_medium%7C%5Bgclid%7C%5Bmsclkid%7C%5Bfbclid%7C%5Brefdomain%7Cwww.google.com%5Bcontent_id%7C259c27ca-bbc6-4d13-bfce-92068d4450a2%5Bcontent_product_id%7C9a8c7678-7ad2-4985-94d9-b5629f160a65%5Bproduct_retailer_id%7Cfae3cfd9-7e49-4c58-adb0-9c13b44cb773%5Blt%7C%5Baxid%7Cb98125b9-6726-42c1-b535-00582c1acc12%5Bofsxid%7Creaders_also_read%5Bofsvid%7Con-1514778%5D) and [Solemate Short](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fbeyondyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fsolemate-2-5-short-black-ru5208%3Fvariant%3D43946721083491) or the [Alo Match Point Short](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aloyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fw6334r-match-point-short-vintage-pink%3F) and [Sparks Fly Corset Tank](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aloyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fw9943r-airbrush-sparks-fly-corset-tank-vintage-pink).
- **Yoga/Pilates/Barre:** For low-impact yoga, Pilates, and barre classes, comfort is everything. The ideal workout set feels soft, lightweight, and ultra-stretchy—almost like a second skin—so you can move freely through flows and long holds. Seamless designs and breathable fabrics make a huge difference here, which is why I like the [437 V Legging](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop437.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-v-legging-clay-mask%3Fvariant%3D41025079672874), [Ballet Tank](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop437.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-ballet-tank-cream-claymask%3Fvariant%3D42078207868970), and [Ballet Wrap](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop437.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-ballet-wrap-cream%3Fvariant%3D42860280315946) best for barre classes and low-intensity yoga and Pilates classes. The [Athleta Intention Crop Bra](https://gap.igs4ds.net/c/3006986/383280/5556?subId1=wmh&subId3=xid:{xid}&u=https%3A%2F%2Fathleta.gap.com%2Fbrowse%2Fproduct.do%3Fpid%3D769501142%26vid%3D1%23pdp-page-content) and [Elation Ultra High Rise Wide Leg Pant](https://gap.igs4ds.net/c/3006986/383280/5556?subId1=wmh&subId3=xid:{xid}&u=https%3A%2F%2Fathleta.gap.com%2Fbrowse%2Fproduct.do%3Fpid%3D860810002%26vid%3D1) set is another great choice.

## **How We Chose**

As _Women's Health_ editors, we practically live in workout clothes. Our team is made up of all different fitness levels and sizes. For this story, I tested over 10 matching workout sets. I also spoke to fitness editor [Cori Ritchey, C.S.C.S.](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/author/259241/cori-ritchey-c-s-c-s/), associate health and fitness editor [Olivia Luppino](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/author/402998/olivia-luppino/), beauty assistant [Katie Mogg](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/author/446011/katie-mogg/), and associate video producer [Janie Booth](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/about/a24170223/about-womens-health/#:~:text=Men%20on%20AMC.-,Janie%20Booth,-Janie%20Booth%20is) about their favorite matching workout sets for high-intensity training, low-intensity activity, and recovery. Then, we narrowed down our list and re-tested them at the gym. We rated them based on comfort, support, and style. The options that got the highest marks are the ones that made it into this guide.

##### Best Overall

###### Alo Match Point Short

Credit: Alo

**Pros:**

- Flattering corset-style silhouette
- Supportive, smoothing fabric
- Shorts stay put without riding up

**Cons:**

- Top can feel snug for larger busts

I instantly feel put together when I put on this Alo set. It’s super flattering, the top is moderately compressive so I feel locked in, and the shorts are breathable and flowy. I love this combo for low-impact and moderately intense workouts, from vinyasa yoga flows to cycling, strength training, and easy jogs. The vintage pink colorway is so girly and fun, but there are four matching color combos to choose from.

The Sparks Fly Corset top has a structured, slightly sculpting fit that makes me look snatched without feeling restrictive. Thanks to the medium-compression Alo Airbrush fabric (a blend of nylon and elastane), it’s supportive enough to skip a sports bra for some, but still comfortable enough for lifting or lower-impact sessions.

The Match Point Short balances it out with a sporty, relaxed fit. It’s lightweight with tons of stretch, so it moves with you without clinging. I’ve never had to adjust this short mid-workout, and it wicks away sweat with ease. I love the stylish logo waistband that never digs in during workouts. This short even earned a spot in our guide to the best running shorts. "My favorite part about this short is that it's never clingy, so it doesn't ride up the thigh or need constant re-adjusting while you're working out," says WH style contributor Lily Wolhner.

Alo has so many cute accessories you can pair with your workout set, too. I love wearing this set with my pink and white [Half-Crew Throwback Sock](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aloyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fa0480u-unisex-half-crew-throwback-sock-white-vintage-pink), but you can also snag the [Off Duty Cap](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aloyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fa0648u-off-duty-cap-vintage-pink), [Solar Visor](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aloyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fa0684u-airlift-solar-visor-vintage-pink), and [Love Knots Tie Scrunchie](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aloyoga.com%2Fproducts%2Fa0225u-love-knots-tie-scrunchie-vintage-pink) in the same colorway to complete the look.

**Sizes**: XXS—XL | **Material**: 87% nylon, 13% elastane (top); 90% polyester, 10% elastane (shorts) | **Activity**: Low-impact activity, strength training, light jogs | **Colors**: 4 (top); 14 (shorts)

##### Best Budget

**Pros:**

- Ultra-soft feel
- No front seam on the legging
- Great stretch

**Cons:**

- Less compressive than more premium options
- Legging only comes in one length

Crz Yoga hit the activewear scene in 2015 and quickly gained traction as a high-quality option for [affordable workout clothes](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/style/g70518271/affordable-workout-clothes/). It’s one of my go-to brands from Amazon that I recommend to everyone—the fabrics rival pricey brands like lululemon and Vuori in terms of softness and stretch, with low to medium compression that makes the clothes perfect for yoga, Pilates, strength training, HIIT, and more.

The label’s Butterluxe Legging is a major standout from the brand, and after extensive testing, it earned a top spot in our guide to the [best leggings with pockets](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/a19908955/leggings-with-pockets/). This no front seam version is the latest addition to my workout wardrobe, and it’s staying in the rotation. It’s made from the same Butterluxe fabric—an 81% nylon and 19% elastane blend—that has that smooth, second-skin softness I associate with much pricier brands. It’s ultra-stretchy, offers light-to-moderate compression, and features a high-rise waistband that stays put through squats, lunges, and long walks. The lack of a front seam (the line that runs from waistband to crotch in most leggings) makes it much more flattering and comfortable (aka no awkward bunching in that area or battles with a camel toe!).

There’s no shortage of tops and bras to pair with the legging, but the Strappy Longline Sports Bra is my fave. The criss-cross straps in the back are so stylish, the longline silhouette gives enough coverage to wear it on its own, and it offers enough support for me (a C cup) to get through most workouts without spillage or bounce. It’s made from a similar fabric to the legging, just with a bit less nylon and more elastane—it’s still super smooth against the skin, but a bit more compressive.

If, like me, you want a bit more coverage some days, I love pairing this set with the [Crz Yoga Pima Cotton Cropped Tank](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KXY919Q?tag=womenshealth-auto-20) in a coordinating shade. One of the best things about Crz Yoga is that there’s a seemingly endless amount of colors and styles to choose from, so you can create tons of cute workout sets without breaking the bank.

**Sizes**: XXS—XL | **Material**: 81% polyamide, 19% elastane (legging); 71% polyamide, 29% elastane (sports bra) | **Activity**: Low-impact activity, strength training, HIIT, everyday wear | **Colors**: 10 (legging); 14 (sports bra)

##### Best For Running

###### Rhone LightSpeed Tank

Credit: Rhone

###### Rhone LightSpeed Short

Credit: Rhone

**Pros:**

- Lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying
- Doesn’t chafe or cling
- Anti-odor technology

**Cons:**

- We wish there were more color options

When the goal is to log miles without thinking about your outfit, this set delivers. The LightSpeed Short and Tank from Rhone are airy and sweat-wicking, with a barely there feel that’s ideal for hot runs or long distances.

Both the top and bottom are made with Rhone’s performance pointelle fabric (a soft, lightweight knit with eyelets—aka teeny tiny holes—all over for breathability). It never clings to my skin, no matter how sweaty I get, and the shorts never ride up even while running at light speed (get it?). The nylon and elastane blend also features the brand’s specialized GoldFusion anti-odor technology, a fabric treatment that uses gold-infused particles to help tamp down on odor-causing bacteria and post-workout funk.

The strategically placed mesh paneling is another win. You’ll find them at the front of the shoulders and underarms, down each side of the torso, and along the side and back hem of the shorts. The shorts include a brief liner, which I usually find uncomfortable and restrictive, but in this pair it’s barely noticeable—and I appreciate the extra coverage considering the fit is so airy.

There’s no built-in liner or bra in the tank, so I like to wear my Instinct [Contrast Longline Bra](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rhone.com%2Fproducts%2Fwomens-instinct-contrast-longline-bra%2F%3Fvariant%3D47088601333952) in blue granite underneath, which looks super cute with my Sage Gray set. There are only two core colors available for this set right now (we wish there were more!). But a little birdy told me that some fun seasonal color drops are coming very soon.

**Sizes**: XS—2XL | **Material**: 90% recycled polyamide, 10% elastane | **Activity**: Running, strength training, low-impact activity, HIIT | **Colors**: 2

##### Best Low-Impact

**Pros:**

- Buttery soft fabric
- Flattering V-waist legging design
- Layering wrap is versatile and stylish

**Cons:**

- Not supportive enough for high-impact workouts
- Fabric tends to bunch in the leggings

When I want to channel my inner Pilates Princess, I reach for this set from [437](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop437.com%2F). It’s perfect for low-impact classes because the fabric is so soft and comfortable, but it’s also just plain cute. There are so many cute color combos you can choose from in the 437 lineup, but I’m partial to this Clay and Cream colorway.

The [V Legging](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop437.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-v-legging-clay-mask%3F) and [Ballet Tank](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop437.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-ballet-tank-cream-claymask%3F) are made from the 437 Cloud fabric, a smooth, moisture-wicking polyester that feels ultra-soft against the skin and minimally compressive. They’re great for low-key workouts and casual wear, but I don’t find them supportive enough for high-impact movements or running. I love the subtle dip at the waist of the legging which is super flattering by elongating the torso, and the stylish ruching on the tank top.

The [Ballet Wrap](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fshop437.com%2Fproducts%2Fthe-ballet-wrap-cream%3F) is a trendy (and optional) addition to the set. It’s a stylish layering piece that gives more coverage for the arms and shoulders, wrapping around the belly and tying behind the back. It adds that cozy, layered look for warm-ups, cool-downs, or just grabbing smoothies post-workout. It’s made with semi-synthetic Modal, so it’s super soft and comfy, but I find myself taking it off once the workout class ramps up.

My only gripe with the set is about the leggings. Sometimes, the fabric in the crotch area bunches up and looks a bit awkward—but I do wonder if sizing down may have solved that problem. If you’re between sizes, I def recommend going with the smaller size.

**Sizes**: XS—XL | **Material**: 100% modal (wrap); 100% recycled polyester (top and legging) | **Activity**: Low-impact activity | **Colors**: 4 (tank top); 6 (legging); 3 (wrap)

##### Most Stylish

**Pros:**

- Statement-making color combos
- Buttery, lightweight fabric
- Supportive

**Cons:**

- Stripe detail isn’t for everyone

If you want compliments before you even step into the gym, this is your set. The coordinating color blocking and subtle stripe details give it that fashion-girl, trendy edge without feeling overdone. Associate video producer [Janie Booth](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/about/a24170223/about-womens-health/#:~:text=Men%20on%20AMC.-,Janie%20Booth,-Janie%20Booth%20is) says she can’t wear this Splits59 set for more than five minutes without strangers asking her where it’s from.

The legging is moisture-wicking and quick-drying with a blend of nylon and elastane. It’s moderately compressive, but comfortable, and the waistband stays put through every workout imaginable, Booth says. While she loves the fun color combo which feels super retro-inspired (and on-trend!), Booth wasn’t the biggest fan of the stripe on the side of the leg. “But that’s my own personal thing,” she says. “The actual legging is great.”

Meanwhile, the bra’s Airweight fabric—a similar fabric makeup to the legging, but with more nylon and less elastane— lives up to its name. It’s buttery-soft, smooth, breathable, and super flattering. We love the trendy layered look from the contrast trim detailing and the comfortable racerback silhouette. The bra manages to feel both supportive _and_ cute, even for a larger chest size, Booth says. Major win!

**Sizes**: XS—XL | **Material**: 62% nylon, 38% elastane (legging), 81% nylon, 19% elastane (sports bra) | **Activity**: Running, strength training, low-impact activity, HIIT | **Colors**: 4 (legging); 3 (sports bra)

##### Most Flattering

###### Spanx High Neck Shelf Tank

Credit: Spanx

**Pros:**

- Sculpting, shapewear-like fit
- Everything stays in place
- Great for high-impact workouts

**Cons:**

- Runs snug—consider sizing up

This Spanx set is all about that held-in feeling and sculpted look. The CurveTheory fabrics and silhouettes have that shapewear quality we love from Spanx—it hugs, smooths, and supports without limiting movement. Oh, and it makes you look super snatched, too.

“The material of all pieces of this set is buttery soft,” says fitness editor [Cori Ritchey, C.S.C.S.](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/author/259241/cori-ritchey-c-s-c-s/). That’s because the matte fabric is made primarily of nylon (which is super smooth) with just enough elastane for the perfect amount of stretch and compression. “Because it's shapewear, it really molds to your body, which is so nice,” Ritchey says.

The high-neck tank features “body-mapping design lines,” or strategically placed stitching, that gives the illusion of an hourglass shape. Plus, it has a built-in bra that actually provides enough support for high-impact activity. The legging has similar “body-mapping” lines throughout, an extra supportive waistband that won’t budge, and no front seam to avoid any awkward bunching or camel toe situations. Every piece in this set moves with you and stays in place, Ritchey says. She loves wearing these pieces for “high-impact anything”—agility, box jumps, running—“they’re not going anywhere.”

The [CurveTheory Contour Full Zip Jacket](https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=74968X1576255&url=https%3A%2F%2Fspanx.com%2Fproducts%2Fspanx-curvetheory-contour-full-zip-jacket%3F) is optional, but it pulls the whole look together. It’s sleek enough to wear outside the gym, but still performance-ready with the same sweat-wicking fabric and a slim fit that won’t get in the way of your workout. One note: this set runs tight. If you’re between sizes—or don’t love a compressive feel—size up.

###### Aritzia Golden Butter Cheeky Hi-Rise Legging

Credit: Aritzia

**Pros:**

- Silky, ultra-soft feel
- Moisture-wicking
- Flattering fit

**Cons:**

- Requires seamless underwear

This Golden Butter activewear set from Aritzia has earned a permanent spot in beauty assistant [Katie Mogg](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/author/446011/katie-mogg/)’s weekly rotation. The fabric is incredibly smooth—like, double-take soft—but still handles even the toughest workouts like a pro.

Mogg says the nylon and elastane blend feels “silky” and super comfy against the skin. It has a skin-tight, sculpting fit that somehow doesn’t feel restrictive, making it easy to move through everything from squats to sprints. It’s moisture-wicking and quick-drying too, making it “perfect for even my most tiring high-intensity interval workouts,” Mogg says.

The legging has a high-rise waistband with a shaping design for a super flattering, secure fit. Meanwhile, the tank has less performance featuresup top, but Mogg says it holds up surprisingly well during high-intensity sessions.

Plus, “the Juicy Rose color flatters my olive-toned skin and makes me feel like I'm truly working out in style,” she says. Her only con? You definitely need seamless undies with the legging. The material is super flattering, but at least in this color, you can get VPL if you’re not careful.

**Sizes**: 00—16 (legging); XXS—XL (top) | **Material**: 80% nylon, 20% elastane | **Activity**: Running, strength training, low-impact activity, HIIT | **Colors**: 11 (legging); 12 (top)

##### Best Recovery Set

**Pros:**

- Relaxed, oversized fit
- Warm but breathable
- Pockets

**Cons:**

- Designed for recovery, not workouts

This set from lululemon is perfect for throwing on _after_ the workout—and wearing all day afterward. The fit is relaxed, cozy, and super stylish—which is why it’s become Ritchey’s go-to travel outfit. She loves the brown and black color palette and the stylish stripe detailing throughout.

The fabric is what makes this set such a standout for off-duty days. It’s primarily cotton, so it has that soft, live-in feel right away, with just enough polyester blended in to help it hold its shape and resist that slouchy, sloppy look. It has a midweight feel that keeps you warm without causing you to overheat, Ritchey says.

We love the relaxed fit of the track pants, with a roomy leg and easy drape. Oh, and as Ritchey points out, they have “pockets galore!” Perfect for storing headphones, a post-workout protein bar, or your phone. The funnel neck zip-up has that same oversized energy, with a slightly structured collar that makes it feel more chic than your average hoodie. It layers stylishly over a sports bra or tank and instantly pulls the whole look together.

That said, this is not the set you’ll wear during your workout (unless your workout is savasana, which I respect). The cotton-heavy fabric doesn’t wick sweat the way performance blends do, and the loose fit isn’t built for high-impact movement. Where it shines, though, is during recovery days, travel, or going to and from your workout class when you still want to look put-together.

##### Best For Strength Training

###### Beyond Yoga Spacedye Slim Racerback Cropped Tank

###### Beyond Yoga Solemate Short

Now 25% Off

**Pros:**

- Soft with light compression
- Stays put during lifts
- Not see-through

**Cons:**

- Less supportive for high-impact cardio

I reach for this set when I want to feel comfortable during my lifts without sacrificing performance. This tank and short combo from Beyond Yoga has a no-fuss fit that feels barely-there in the best way.

The tank top is made from Beyond Yoga’s beloved Spacedye fabric—a buttery-soft blend of polyester and elastane that _WH_ editors can’t get enough of. It even earned the best overall title in our [**workout tops**](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/style/g46871330/best-workout-tops-for-women/) guide. It actually has a lower percentage of elastane compared to other fabric blends from brands like Alo, Vuori, and lululemon—still enough to be stretchy, but not so much that it compromises on softness. It has that barely-there feel while still offering a bit of hold, so I never feel restricted. The built-in bra is a major plus, especially if you prefer an all-in-one situation. As a C cup, I find it offers enough support for strength training or low-impact workouts, but I layer a sports bra underneath for anything higher-impact, like running or a HIIT class.

It pairs perfectly with the Solemate Short in a coordinating shade. This short is super versatile—I love it for strength training when paired with the Spacedye Slim Tank, but it’s also a great running short. That’s because it’s made from a lightweight, woven fabric comprised of polyester and elastane. Woven fabrics, as opposed to knit fabrics, are super breathable, non-stretchy, and more durable. Despite the material being less stretchy, the waistband offers plenty of give (and is adjustable!). Plus, the vented back panel and perforated material at the sides give this short a super airy feel. I never overheat while wearing this short, whether I’m lifting heavy or running miles.

The only con is that the tank top isn’t supportive enough for high-impact cardio, but it’s great for post-strength incline walking or stair climbing.

##### Best For Yoga

**Pros:**

- Soft, breathable fabric
- Petite and tall sizing available for pants
- Comfortable, non-restrictive fit

**Cons:**

- Less supportive for high-impact workouts

“When looking for a good workout set, don't sleep on Athleta,” says associate health and fitness editor [Olivia Luppino](https://www.womenshealthmag.com/author/402998/olivia-luppino/). She’s been wearing this set non-stop to the gym for any sort of low-impact workout, as well as yoga, barre, and Pilates classes.

The crop bra is form-fitting, supportive, and comfortable. It has an internal shelf bra and is made from a lightly compressive blend of nylon and elastane. She says it holds her in enough to even wear on runs, so you _know_ it can handle downward dog with ease. I also love the stylish racerback and keyhole detailing combo that gives it a more trendy vibe than your typical sports bra.

Luppino says the pant is super cozy, and prefers the softer material to the usual more “spandex-y” feel. “It's smooth and flattering while still giving me enough stretch to move comfortably,” she says. The pant also has a huge hidden pocket in the back, which can easily stash headphones, a keycard, or even your phone. Another perk: it comes in petite (and tall!) lengths. Luppino is 5'2 and says the petite length fit her perfectly, which isn’t always an option with yoga pants from other brands.

While the top can likely handle higher-impact activity for A-C cups, the pants are best reserved for yoga, Pilates, and barre workouts for their less compressive feel and looser fit. However, this set also works for strength training if you prefer a wider-leg pant.

**Sizes**: XS—3XL | **Material**: 75% nylon, 25% elastane | **Activity**: Low-impact activity, strength training | **Colors**: 6 (bra); 3 (pants)
