## [Do you need an AI visibility tool? (Most likely, yes)](#do-you-need-an-ai-visibility-tool-\(most-likely-yes\))

It’s tempting to think you can just monitor your [ChatGPT shopping manually](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/shopping). Go to ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude, etc., search for prompts your customers might use, and see if your brand shows up. Sounds simple enough, right? But that doesn’t work.

For starters, LLM tools don’t give out the same answer every time to every user. The output a prompt generates depends on various factors—like timing, user behavior, how a prompt is phrased, and more.

Secondly, this approach doesn’t give you a zoomed-out, large-scale answer to how your brand’s AI visibility is changing over time. You can’t spot patterns and trends or monitor which actions moved the needle. This means you’ll also be unable to report your work to stakeholders accurately.

And lastly, a big problem with manually checking AI visibility is scaling it. How many prompts can you realistically track in a day across LLMs? 50? 100? The ceiling is too low compared to how fast AI visibility providers can scale. Plus, because of LLMs’ probabilistic nature, the data you collect manually will be inconsistent.

If you’re [serious about AI search](https://www.tryprofound.com/resources/white-papers/ai-in-search), having an AI visibility tool in your tech stack becomes non-negotiable. And if you make the right choice, the investment will be well worth it.

## [How should you evaluate AI visibility providers? 9 features to look for](#how-should-you-evaluate-ai-visibility-providers-9-features-to-look-for)

There are a large number of players in the AI visibility tools space (and the number’s only growing!). That sounds overwhelming, but it’s actually good news because so many options mean you’ll find the tool that matches your needs to a T.

The problem is understanding _what exactly to look for_ when examining AI visibility providers—especially because each tool has a lot of features. Here’s a quick checklist of what you should look for:

- **Large LLM coverage**: ChatGPT might be the most popular AI tool on the block, but it’s certainly not the only one your audience is using. Look for wide LLM coverage in AI visibility providers. The more AI tools they cover, the more accurately you can track your overall AI visibility.
- **Deep reporting and ability to slice and dice the data**: It’s not enough to just monitor how many times your brand appears in AI search results. You also need to understand the sentiment around your brand, which prompts are most commonly used, which pages on your site are cited the most, and how your share of voice is fluctuating. Look for AI visibility providers that provide robust reporting without the overwhelm—you should also be able to filter the data according to LLM, competitors, prompts, etc.
- **Actionable insights**: There are some AI visibility providers that just tell you the state of your brand in AI search. Most of the time, that data alone is not enough. You need insights into what actions you can take to improve your AI presence. Look for AI visibility tools that provide practical solutions to improve your brand presence in AI.
- **Competitive benchmarking**: You need to [benchmark your share of AI visibility](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/answer-engine-insights/competitors) compared to your top competitors. Look for tools with strong competitive benchmarking features to help you get more context on whether you’re leading the AI visibility race.
- **International coverage**: Global brands need AI visibility data outside of English and the US. Look for tools that cover a large number of countries and languages—especially if you’re a global brand.
- **Security**: You need a secure tool that can meet enterprise standards for data handling. Look for SSO, SOC2 compliance, and terms of service.
- **Integrations**: It’s hard to integrate AI visibility data and actionable steps if the tool doesn’t integrate with your existing tech stack. Look for wide integrations across SEO tools, CMS, and more.
- **Support**: AI search is still relatively new and ever-changing. AI visibility tools with quick support and 1:1 onboarding can help you maintain speed without losing momentum.
- **Product updates and research**: AI search changes by the minute. Pick an AI visibility tool that can keep up with the pace. This means shipping new & useful features fast and conducting internal research to keep you up-to-date on best practices.

Now you have a solid checklist of what to look for when examining several AI visibility providers. Keep this list handy when you’re taking a demo or using a free trial to test out the tools on this list.

## [The 8 best AI visibility tools in 2026](#the-8-best-ai-visibility-tools-in-2026)

Based on the factors above, here are the best AI visibility providers in the market. Each of them meets certain use cases better than others. Continue reading to find the right tool for you.

### [1\. Profound](#1.-profound)

#### **Best for enterprise orgs that need deep reporting and content optimization**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Meta AI, Grok, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews

**Price**: Starter plan (ChatGPT tracking only) costs $99/month. There’s a seven-day free trial in the Growth plan and custom pricing for the Enterprise plan

[Profound](http://profound.com/) is the best all-in-one LLM visibility tool for enterprise brands. It has robust reporting, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA compliance, SSO, and a wide range of integrations.

Beyond acing the basics of AI visibility monitoring—including competitive benchmarking, share of voice, and [sentiment analysis](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/answer-engine-insights/sentiment)—Profound also has several unique features:

- [Agent Analytics](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/agent-analytics) to understand how AI views your site and what technical improvements you can make for better indexing, retrieval, and traffic
- [Prompt Volumes](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/prompt-volumes) to help you analyze what prompts your audience is using to discover your brand, including [query fanout analysis](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/expanding-analysis-for-query-fanouts-in-profound)
- [Shopping Insights](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/shopping) to see how your product is represented in ChatGPT shopping and compare it to other retailers
- [Agents](https://www.tryprofound.com/features/agents) to build automated content campaigns and create AI-optimized content, fast

Profound is also perfect for [agencies](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/agencies-launch-your-aeo-practice-with-profound). You can create separate workspaces for each client with consolidated billing. The company is also a pioneer in AI research and white-glove support—which means you get actionable insights into how [AEO](https://www.tryprofound.com/resources/articles/answer-engine-optimization-aeo-guide-for-marketers-2025) is changing and what your brand should do.

**Choose Profound if**:

- You’re investing in AI visibility for the long-term
- You’re an enterprise org requiring high security
- You need a wide variety of integrations

**Don’t choose Profound if**:

- You’re just testing the waters with AI search
- You’re mainly looking for a content generation tool

### [2\. Athena](#2.-athena)

#### **Best for small agencies looking for lead gen**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok

**Price**: The self-serve plan starts at $295/month. The Enterprise plan has custom pricing. Athena doesn’t offer a free trial of any of its plans

[Athena](https://athenahq.ai/) may be the right choice for small marketing agencies (see our list of [best ai visibility tools for agencies](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/best-ai-visibility-tools-for-marketing-agencies)) looking to improve AI visibility for their clients and get referral leads in the process.

While you can certainly track relevant prompts in Athena, the tool doesn’t show corresponding volume for each prompt. It’s like getting a list of keywords without the keyword volume—you just don’t know which prompt is impactful enough to prioritize.

That said, prompt tracking (albeit with the lack of prompt volume) is pretty decent in the tool. You can see brand mentions and citations of the prompts you’re tracking and benchmark them against competitors. It’s easy to spot which URLs on your site drive the most AI traffic.

When it comes to implementation, [Athena](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/athenahq-review-not-the-best-for-enterprises) can help, but don’t expect any miracles. The content briefs (generated by the Action Center) are solid, but the content itself is lackluster. It can be inaccurate and plagiarized, too, so do your due diligence before publishing.

The recommendations are also good, but half-baked. Athena will tell you which subreddits your brand should be a part of, for example. But that’s about it—there are no details on the subreddit’s guidelines.

I say Athena is a good fit for small agencies because the company offers a partnership where you can generate referral leads after getting a [GEO](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/best-generative-engine-optimization-tools)(Generative Engine Optimization) certification from the org. An agency growth manager works with you to optimize your client portfolio for AEO. You can read our full [AthenaHQ vs Profound guide here](https://www.tryprofound.com/resources/articles/profound-vs-athenahq).

**Choose Athena if**:

- You’re a small agency looking to land referral deals and learn GEO
- You need to track your brand’s visibility for specific prompts

**Don’t choose Athena if**:

- You need insights about prompt volume
- You want to create high-quality AI-optimized content

### [3\. Peec AI](#3.-peec-ai)

#### **Best for small teams kickstarting their AI visibility efforts**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Perplexity, AIO. You can add other LLMs (like Gemini, AI Mode, and Claude) at an additional cost

**Price**: Plans start at €89/month. Starter and Pro plans have a seven-day free trial

[Peec](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/peec-ai-review) AI is one of the most affordable AI visibility tools in the market right now. It’s the right pick if you’re a small team looking to [test the waters with AEO](https://www.tryprofound.com/resources/articles/what-is-answer-engine-optimization).

Like with Athena, you can track prompts, but you don’t get prompt volume details to determine the popularity of a query. There is a volume column in the tool—it shows the interest in a prompt on a scale of one to five. But that doesn’t tell you anything about the actual volume of a prompt.

The other data on your visibility is also good, but basic. If you want to analyze your AI visibility beyond the surface, Peec’s not there yet. For instance, you can see how your brand compares to competitors in terms of visibility, sentiment, and positioning. But you can’t compare your visibility rankings across topics and prompts.

Another big flaw of Peec AI is that it only gives you the data. There are no recommendations or AI-optimized content. If you just need AI visibility metrics and can do the strategic bit on your own (which might be more suitable for smaller brands), Peec AI might be enough.

But you’ll outgrow the tool as soon as you want more insight into prompt volume, strategic recommendations to improve visibility, or help in running content campaigns.

**Choose Peec AI if**:

- You’re a small team looking to test the waters with AI visibility
- You just need basic data about your brand’s AI visibility

**Don’t choose Athena if**:

- You need deeper data on competitors, brand sentiment, and overall AI visibility
- You want recommendations to improve your AI visibility

Read our in-depth [Profound vs Peec AI platform comparison](https://www.tryprofound.com/resources/articles/profound-vs-peec-ai) for more information.

### [4\. Semrush AIO](#4.-semrush-aio)

#### **Best for Semrush users**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok, Deepseek

**Price**: Custom enterprise pricing

If you’re already a power user of Semrush for SEO, it’s worth considering their AI visibility tool, [Semrush AIO](https://www.semrush.com/lp/enterprise-aio/en/).

The primary benefit is that you get all your SEO and AEO data combined in one software instead of your strategy being fragmented in multiple tools. The AIO tool is an enterprise-grade software—global brands can use it to analyze their AI visibility across regions, personas, and products.

The tool also has a large prompt database (over 200M), and the workflow is quite similar to SERP—so there’s not going to be a lot of learning curve.

One thing to remember is the AEO tool here is built on the back of the legacy SEO tool. This might mean the data isn’t as strong as standalone AI visibility tools and new features are slow to ship. Plus, Adobe has also recently acquired Semrush, which might trigger more changes, especially in the pricing.

When I tested [Semrush’s AI visibility toolkit](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/semrush-ai-visibility-toolkit-review), the cons were a lack of actionable recommendations, surface-level brand performance reports, and costs adding up fast due to add-ons.

**Choose Semrush AIO if**:

- You already use Semrush
- You’re a global brand needing SEO and AEO under one tool

**Don’t choose Semrush AIO if**:

- You don’t need one blended tool for SEO and AEO
- You’re already using other SEO tools

## [5\. Botify](#5.-botify)

#### **Best for large sites**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity

**Price**: Custom enterprise pricing

Botify is the perfect tool for large sites that might have technical issues that prevent website pages from being visible in LLMs.

The tool uses first-party data, crawl data, and Google Console metrics to show which pages on your site aren’t getting cited by AI tools.

The best part is you can deploy fixes on your whole site (like redirect chains, internal linking, etc.) without requiring developer assistance. Botify is made for sites with over a thousand pages—it can handle that scale.

The con is the tool might be overkill for every other brand that doesn’t have thousands of pages. Plus, it might not be as helpful in improving AI visibility for non-branded prompts as standalone tools. Botify is designed for fixing technical issues that prevent bots from crawling your site, not for brands looking to gauge AI sentiment.

**Choose Botify if**:

- You want to improve AI visibility of your large and complex site
- You often need to deploy technical fixes on your site

**Don’t choose Botify if**:

- You don’t have over a thousand pages on your site
- You’re more focused on improving AI visibility and sentiment than making your site crawlable for bots

### [6\. Scrunch](#6.-scrunch)

#### **Best for small sites needing technical fixes**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Gemini, AI overviews, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Copilot, Meta, Claude

**Price**: Explorer plan costs $100/month (only ChatGPT). Growth costs $500/month and enterprises have custom pricing. The Explorer plan has a seven-day free trial

Think of [Scrunch](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/scrunch-ai-review) like the Botify for small sites. Scrunch AXP can help you identify AI bot traffic, delete code that doesn’t contribute to AI optimization, and restructure your site pages—all without coding. It’s the small-scale version of Botify’s technical capabilities.

Coming to AI visibility capabilities, Scrunch is good, but basic. You’ll likely outgrow it as your AEO strategy expands. For example, you can see AI search trends, but it’s quite limited. There’s a chance the trends Scrunch has spotted might not even be relevant for your brand. The recommendations are also confusing and not very actionable.

My gripe with the tool is its features are beginner-friendly and designed for smaller sites. You can only audit one URL at a time, for example. But the pricing is a lot for the value. It’s much better to pay a little more for a tool like Profound (Growth plan) and get better agent analytics, AI visibility metrics, and content optimization & generation workflows.

**Choose Scrunch if**:

- You have a small site that needs technical fixes for AI visibility
- You don’t need a lot of in-depth data and recommendations on LLM visibility

**Don’t choose Botify if**:

- You have a large site
- You can afford to pay slightly more and get superior data, recommendations, and agent analytics

**Learn more about the tool and its features**: [Scrunch AI Review](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/scrunch-ai-review)

### [7\. AirOps](#7.-airops)

#### **Best for optimizing massive content libraries for LLMs**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI mode, Perplexity

**Price**: Solo plan costs $200/month (ChatGPT insights only), Pro plan costs $2,000/month, and the Enterprise plan has custom pricing. Solo and Pro plans have a 14-day free trial

[AirOps](https://www.airops.com/) is an AI visibility provider for sites that have large content libraries that need to be AI-optimized. You can create AI-powered automated workflows—like updating your published content based on internal data—and implement them at scale using Grids.

Grids are the real power move in this tool—it allows you to implement your workflows on hundreds of URLs at the same time. This is helpful for brands stuck in the constant refresh cycle because you can auto-update content to a large extent.

[AirOps](https://www.tryprofound.com/blog/airops-review) also creates decent AI-generated content—you can feed it your brand guidelines and it’ll write or refresh content following those to a T. My advice would be to provide as detailed instructions as possible to get a better brand output.

I still wouldn’t say you can use AirOps without human intervention, but the time required to edit and polish will be significantly less.

Coming to the AI visibility _data_, AirOps doesn’t ace it as much as the other tools on this list. For example, Profound can tell you which product features exactly are construed positively or negatively. AirOps provides a more surface-level insight into your brand sentiment.

Similarly, the citations and prompt data depth are also lacking in AirOps. You can’t see how popular a prompt is or track citations for specific pages on your site. There’s a good chance AirOps might add these features in the future, but right now, it’s much more suited for content creation and refresh at scale.

Another thing to remember is it takes some time to get the hang of the tool. You can’t hit the ground running right after you sign up. It takes a while to set up the workflows, implement the Grids, and get the ROI from the tool.

**Choose AirOps if**:

- You want to create or update content at scale for AI optimization
- You don’t mind a bit of a learning curve

**Don’t choose AirOps if**:

- You need in-depth data and analysis on your AI visibility
- You don’t have massive content production or refresh needs

Read our [Profound vs AirOps guide](https://www.tryprofound.com/resources/articles/profound-vs-airops) for more information.

### [8\. SE Visible](#8.-se-visible)

#### **Best for brands that need SEO and AEO in one ecosystem**

**LLM coverage**: ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode, Perplexity

**Price**: Basic plan is $99/month, Core costs $189/month, and Plus is priced at $355/month. Basic and Core plans have a 10-day free trial

[SE Visible](https://visible.seranking.com/) is part of the SE Ranking ecosystem—one is for AEO and the other is for SEO. If you’ve already been using SE Ranking, the AI Search is a $71.20/month add-on.

Right now, SE Visible’s data is not as in-depth as some of the other tools on this list. For example, there’s no feature to fix the technical issues on your site to optimize all pages for LLMs.

Some of the data in SE Visible is also inaccurate. I tried to test it for my client, [Vimcal](https://www.vimcal.com/), and it didn’t recognize the right competitors—like Calendly, Morgen, or Motion. Instead, it picked Google Calendar and Outlook, which is the tool Vimcal builds on top of (not replaces!).

Apart from this mishap, the remaining data was also not enough by any means. You can’t track prompts, see a prompt’s volume/popularity, or even go in-depth on sentiment analysis. And the data refreshes every seven days, which might not be fast enough for how rapidly AI search changes.

SE Ranking might only be enough if you’re looking to track basic AI visibility metrics in addition to your SEO efforts. But you’ll outgrow it if you need more data, content creation capabilities, or accuracy.

**Choose SE Ranking if**:

- You want to test your AEO strategy on top of your SEO efforts
- You already use SE Ranking

**Don’t choose SE Ranking if**:

- You want to create AI-optimized content
- You want recommendations or in-depth data to improve AI visibility

## [Which AI visibility provider should you choose?](#which-ai-visibility-provider-should-you-choose)

The right AI visibility tool for you depends on where you’re at in your AEO strategy right now, and more importantly, what your goals are.

- If you’re currently deep in SEO and aren’t thinking too much about AEO, SE Visible might be enough
- If you’re looking to update your content library regularly to keep up with AI optimization, pick AirOps
- If you just want surface-level AI visibility data with no recommendations, choose Peec AI

The overall best choice for enterprise brands that are serious about investing in AI search is Profound. Here’s why:

- It has a large LLM, language, and region coverage
- It can create AI-optimized content for you at scale
- It can fix technical issues restricting AI from crawling your site
- It can help you get in-depth data on AI visibility and pair it with actionable recommendations

The most important factor is that Profound is continually investing in improving its AI visibility capabilities for brands like yours. [Get a demo today to see what Profound can do for you](https://www.tryprofound.com/contact-sales).
