Last night I have accidentally booked a room at a hotel in Turkey for the 16 of September instead of 16 August (tonight!). This mistake also happened because Agoda automatically made me select September as the default month, instead of August (despite the fact that the hotel does have availability in August). I realised immediately and got in touch with the hotel. They said no problem at all for them to move the reservation, but I would need to speak with Agoda. Here started the problems. I got an answer from Agoda customer support saying that they could issue a full refund but would need to check with the hotel. They then emailed to say that their “supplier partner” told them I could only get a partial refund of 28.56 USD. I phoned the hotel (which has only one manager whom I spoke to) and he told me that Agoda has never been in touch with them and they never said that. Agoda is therefore lying. When I got back to Agoda pointing this out and asking for them to call me (number provided) things got worse. The answer I got was that the partial refund of 28.56 USD would be provided in the form of AgodaCash. So basically Agoda is keeping all the money while not solving any issue and even lying pretending this is what the “provider partner” said. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a travel agent, and the hotel is also very surprised to hear Agoda is lying on their behalf.
