I was able to get flights for my wife and I for our trip. The problem came when we had to do the self transfer. Kiwi had a transfer guarantee which made me feel better. We had two flights going and two flights back, both through Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. In Punta Cana, they have no idea what you mean when you try to explain a self transfer. Going our second flight was delayed, which may have been a good thing because it took two hours to get to the check in, after going back and forward with security, from immigration, to connections and back to immigration. Coming home, we only only had 2 hour a and 15 minutes between flights. I was able to check in online, it took three attempts for the second flight. Our first flight was delayed 30 minutes. Then we had to get a bus from the tarmac, get our bags, and get to the check in counter. We were in the web check in counter for an hour, not moving, with only a couple groups/families in front of us, we didn't move. We missed the second flight. It took a couple hours to talk to someone from that airline and they said we could get a flight in two days. Then we wanted to use the kiwi guarantee. We got our credit for the flight already when we learned about the 30 minute delay. I found a flight the next day with a different airline and booked it. Only then to learn it didn't go through about an hour later. I then booked the exact same flight through the airline directly, no problem. It allows you to choose the amount of luggage, meals, etc to avoid waste. I liked that it provided me reminders of when to check-in and if there are any flight delays. Gave me options for hacks such as self transfers when searching for flights.
