When a transaction is complete, your earnings are added to your Mercari balance. From there, you can use your balance to shop on Mercari, request a Direct Deposit to your checking account, or use Instant Pay to transfer funds to an eligible debit card.

Mercari processes buyer payments on your behalf, so you don't have to handle payment collection directly.

## When you get paid

After an item is delivered, the buyer has 72 hours to review the order, confirm the item was received as described, and rate the transaction.

Once the buyer rates the order, funds are released to you and appear in your Mercari account as balance.

You can view your balance by going to your profile and tapping **Balance**, or by going to **Settings > Balance**.

1. Go to **Settings > Balance**.
2. Tap **Transfer** or **Transfer my balance**.
3. Choose **Instant Pay** or **Direct Deposit**.
4. Follow the prompts to submit your request.

## Setting up Instant Pay

To use Instant Pay, you'll need to verify your government ID and add an eligible debit card.

1. Upload your government ID and a photo of yourself.
2. Wait for verification. This is usually completed in minutes but may take up to 48 hours.
3. Add an eligible Visa or Mastercard debit card.
4. Submit your Instant Pay request.

If your card isn't eligible or your bank doesn't approve Instant Pay, you can try another verified card or use Direct Deposit.

## Direct Deposit timing

Direct Deposit requests are processed on the following business day. After processing, funds can take up to 5 business days to appear in your checking account.

To check the status:

1. Go to your profile.
2. Tap **Settings > Balance**.
3. Tap **Deposit history**.

If the request was processed, the status will say **DIRECT DEPOSIT PROCESSED** and show the precise date and time. You'll also receive an email confirmation once the Direct Deposit is processed.

If you haven't received your Direct Deposit, check that your bank account information is correct. If the bank information is wrong, contact Mercari Customer Support immediately.

Direct deposits are not processed on banking holidays or holidays recognized by Mercari.

## Routing numbers

A routing number, also called an ACH number or routing transit number, is a 9-digit identification number used to identify your bank. It may appear on your checks, but the location can vary.

If you're having trouble finding your routing number or don't have checks, contact your bank or check your bank statements online.

## Changing or canceling a Direct Deposit request

To change Direct Deposit information, you'll need to cancel the request first. Once canceled, go to **Settings > Balance > Transfer** and enter your updated information.

To cancel a Direct Deposit request:

1. Go to **My Page**.
2. Tap **Settings > Balance > Deposit History**.
3. Tap the deposit you want to cancel.
4. Tap **Cancel**.

You have until **11:59 PM PT** on the day of your request to cancel. If the Cancel option isn't available, the request has already been locked for processing or processed. Mercari can't cancel direct deposits in these cases.

If the account or routing number doesn't belong to a valid account, the receiving bank may reject the funds within 10 business days after processing. If funds are returned to your Mercari balance, a **$2 non-refundable processing fee** will be deducted.

Be sure to use the correct bank account information for Direct Deposit requests. Mercari assumes no responsibility for user error.

If your Direct Deposit funds are on hold by Mercari, contact the Help Center.

## Why you may not be able to request Direct Deposit

If your Direct Deposit privileges have been revoked, you may need to verify your identity. You may be asked to provide:

- Name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number
- Driver's license or other government-issued ID
- Additional documents or information to verify your identity

Mercari may use a third-party vendor to verify your information. Using false information or impersonating another person is prohibited.

## Why your payout may be on hold

A payout may be rejected or held because of:

- Missing or incorrect Direct Deposit request information
- Bank account information that is inaccurate or outdated
- Transactional irregularities
- Account review
- Sale of illegal or prohibited items

Check your Mercari account information to confirm that your bank account information is accurate and up to date. If your bank information is correct, contact your bank for help.

If you believe you entered incorrect bank information, contact Mercari to see whether the funds were returned. If your funds are being held for account review, Mercari will update you once the review is complete.

## Instant Pay troubleshooting

If you haven't received an Instant Pay cash-out, it may be because:

- Your bank declined the debit card enrollment
- Your bank declined or refused the deposit
- You used a prepaid debit card that isn't reloadable
- You reached the $600 monthly withdrawal limit
- You entered the wrong bank account or card information
- Government ID verification couldn't be completed
- The name or address on your card doesn't match your Mercari account

If the Instant Pay request wasn't successful, you won't be charged and the cash-out amount won't be deducted from your balance.

- If your bank declined the debit card enrollment or deposit, contact your bank to resolve any issues before trying again.
- If Instant Pay was sent to the wrong account, Mercari may not be able to reverse the transaction.
- If government ID verification can't be completed or is still under review, you can still request a Direct Deposit.
- If the name or address on your card doesn't match your Mercari account, try a different eligible debit card.

Government ID verification is required for Instant Pay cash-outs.

## Bank account requirements

Direct deposits can only be made to checking accounts. You must use your own bank account to withdraw your Mercari balance.

Each Mercari account can only use one bank account, and each bank account can only be connected to one Mercari account. If you share a joint bank account, only one person can use that bank account on Mercari. These requirements help keep payouts secure and protect Mercari accounts.
