"Will preface this by saying I used this in combination with their shaving gel, and I do think the shaving gel contributed a bit to the smoothness. Was super skeptical while using this in the shower, as the outcome felt the same. But once I was dry, I could really feel and see the difference. Especially when it came to the strawberry bumps on my legs! If you can afford to spend $80+ on a razor, then this is definitely worth it!" —EmilyTl

## How should you prep for shaving if you have sensitive skin?

![a thick line break](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/thick-linebreak-blk-1649967966-64946e4fe12a5.jpg?crop=1xw:1xh;center,top "a thick line break")

According to Orszulak, you don't want to shave the second you get in the shower. "After only 2-3 minutes of hydration, the force required for a blade to cut through hair is significantly reduced," she explains, adding that it's why a lot of people shave while they're conditioning their hair (we love multitasking!).

In addition, don't skip the shave gel. "You should also use some sort of shaving gel or cream to keep the hair hydrated and provide yet another protective layer of lubrication between skin and blades," she explains. "This can also help with tracking—you can clearly see the areas you’ve already shaved when the shave gel is removed so you’ll know you don’t have to re-stroke there and potentially cause irritation."

Finally, Orszulak also recommends exfoliating the area before you shave. "Either using a loofah or a gentle scrub can help to release any trapped hair and remove excess dead skin cells and sebum (oil) that can get in the way of a smooth shaving experience"

## Is it OK to shave daily if you have sensitive skin?

![a thick line break](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/thick-linebreak-blk-1649967966-64946e4fe12a5.jpg?crop=1xw:1xh;center,top "a thick line break")

If you prefer to shave every day and aren't having any issues, that's fine. "How you shave is more important than how often," says Orszulak. "So if you have sensitive skin be mindful of the products you choose and the techniques you follow to find what works best for you."

## Can you use the same razor on your underarms and bikini line?

![a thick line break](https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/thick-linebreak-blk-1649967966-64946e4fe12a5.jpg?crop=1xw:1xh;center,top "a thick line break")

You absolutely can, and most razors can be used on these more sensitive areas. However, "It’s important to acknowledge that the hair and skin are different in different areas of your body, so you might find that one razor works better in one area than another," says Orszulak. "If you have sensitive skin, especially in the pubic area, you may want to use a razor that is designed to help prevent shaving irritation rather than one that is designed to give a very close shave."
