**Designed by Yashar Architects, the project features two 45-floor towers connected via a striking glazed atrium that rises to a height of 60 meters.**

The towers’ distinctive double skin curtain wall, articulated with large diamond-shaped extrusions, provides floor-to-ceiling views while protecting the interior from the sun’s intensity. One of the first corporate buildings in Israel to receive LEED Platinum certification, Landmark Tel Aviv incorporates numerous sustainable features, including advanced shading systems that contribute to its energy efficiency.

### THE CHALLENGE

The sheer scale of the glazed atrium section of the building and the elegance of its cable wall façade design allow natural light to flood through the building. This led to a requirement to shade the building at certain times of day, to control heat and glare in the central space, without compromising the view to the outside. The technical challenge was intensified by the fact that the cable wall structure was designed to accommodate significant movement under wind load, which also had to be accommodated by the shading systems.

### THE SOLUTION

Guthrie Douglas was brought in to develop a custom roller shade solution that could extend to 20 meters, even at a width of only 1.5 meters. GD worked closely with the architects, Aluminium Construction Group, and Holis to design a system that could achieve these size parameters and meet the client’s requirements for glare reduction and energy efficiency, without compromising the elegant design aesthetic of the façade.

More than 350 custom-designed roller blinds, each ranging from 15 to 20 meters in height, were installed on the cable wall façade using specially developed bracketry to fix the systems. The blind mechanisms are concealed within circular, bronze-anodized covers, and the systems are guided using stainless steel cables, which are spring-loaded to accommodate the movement tolerances of the façade.

Today, the shading solution is frequently used and is crucial for maintaining a comfortable indoor environment and reducing energy consumption. The Landmark Tel Aviv project stands as a testament to innovative architectural design and technical excellence, setting a new standard for mixed-use developments in the region.
