### A New Urban Residential Standard

Close to the Kirya complex in Tel Aviv, two 42-storey towers rise up with a suspended pool between them. The complex contains 412 housing units, a 9-storey office and commercial structure, an internal courtyard with an ecological pool connecting the towers to the offices and a 5-level underground car park.

The tight and challenging schedule made meticulous planning of the building frame works essential. The two residential towers and the commercial structure were put up concurrently, even though each tower was constructed as a separate project. The tower foundations were laid by casting two rafts, one week elapsing between the first and the second, immediately followed by casting of the vertical elements comprising the basis for the residential towers. A bridge built of concrete beams, upon which the mid-air pool was constructed, joins the two towers at the ninth floor.

The towers went up at the rate of 4.5 storeys per month, while at the peak of the building operation some 80 concrete mixer trucks arrived at the site every day, providing for the casting of 83,000 cu.m. of concrete with 15,000 tonnes of steel. The project management teams put in hundreds of hours in planning, appraising alternatives, safety measures, design coordination and traffic layouts in order to overcome the difficulties of access to the site, located as it is at one of the main approaches to the city.
