## Your Island, Your Map

Island Traffic works across multiple Caribbean islands. When you open the app it automatically detects which island you're on and shows you the right map — no setup needed.

1. **GPS detection** — If you allow location access, the app pinpoints your island instantly and centers the map there.
2. **IP detection** — If GPS is not available, your approximate location is detected from your internet connection.
3. **Manual pick** — If neither method works, a simple list appears on the loading screen so you can tap your island.
4. **Remembered** — Once detected, your island is saved so the app opens instantly on your next visit.

## Top Bar Icons

The dark green bar at the top has several buttons. Here's what each one does:

⛅

**Weather** Shows current weather for your island — temperature, humidity, wind, rain, UV index and live radar overlays.

🏖️

**Beaches** View beach listings for your island with current sea conditions.

⛴️

**Ferries** Ferry terminal info and current service status for your island.

⛽

**Gas Prices** Community-reported fuel prices at gas stations on your island.

📍

**Center Map** Re-centers the map back to your island if you've scrolled away.

**💡 Tip:** The **\+ Report** button at the bottom right is how you submit a new traffic report — tap it or tap anywhere on the map!

🗺️

## Viewing the Map

When you open the app, you'll see a live map of your island with traffic reports and known hotspots.

1. **Pan & zoom** — Drag to move the map. Pinch on mobile or use +/- buttons to zoom in and out.
2. **Tap a marker** — Colored markers show active traffic reports. Tap any one to see details, confirm it, or mark it resolved.
3. **Smart merge** — If someone already reported the same issue nearby, your report automatically confirms the existing one instead of creating a duplicate pin.

**💡 Tip:** The map auto-refreshes every 15 seconds so you're always seeing the latest reports.
