Everything you need to know about Auto Nurture, and how to set it up and configure it

July 30, 2026

Auto Nurture automatically engages contacts who have no active alerts with Listing Alerts, Home Value Alerts, Market Activity Alerts, and an onboarding email sequence. Contacts who already have any active alert (Listing, MAA, or HVA) are excluded — Auto Nurture steps aside once an alert is active. Auto Nurture is distinct from "Nurture," which refers to a contact's status when at least one nurture tool (e.g., Listing Alerts) is active. Auto Nurture, on the other hand, is the automation tool that facilitates the setup and management of these alerts automatically.

## What Auto Nurture includes

## How Auto Nurture creates alerts automatically

**Automatic Listing Alerts.** If a contact record contains a viewed or inquired listing address, Auto Nurture creates a Listing Alert with the listing's zip code, the list price +20% and −30%, and the property type. The default schedule is Daily; contacts may receive up to 3 emails per week on match days (Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday).

**Automatic Listing Alert Updates.** Listing Alerts generated through Auto Nurture update once per day based on contact activity — expanding price range and location based on what the contact views and acts on.

Manually created alerts, on the other hand, do not include Auto Updating, giving agents full control over the alert’s criteria and frequency.

**Automatic Home Value Alerts.** If a contact record contains an owned property address, Auto Nurture creates a Home Value Alert for that property. Sent monthly by default; frequency can be changed on your [Home Value Alert settings page](https://www.realscout.com/agent/home-reports/settings).

**Automatic Market Activity Alerts.** If the Home Value Alert valuation partner cannot return a valuation for the contact's address, the contact receives a Market Activity Alert for their property's zip code instead.

**Automatic Onboarding Email Sequence.** Every contact in Auto Nurture without an active alert receives the onboarding sequence. [View the email sequence here.](https://support.realscout.com/en/articles/11954461-auto-nurture-email-drip-campaigns-overview)

**_NOTE:_** _The listings in "Popular Homes in Your Area" emails are based on the most viewed listings within a 3, 5, 10, or 25-mile radius of your default map location, which can be updated on your [Auto Nurture Settings](https://www.realscout.com/agent/auto-nurture)._

## Set up Auto Nurture

Watch this 10-minute training video that explains how to set up Auto Nurture:

Auto Nurture is fully configurable on the [Auto Nurture page](https://www.realscout.com/agent/auto-nurture) of your dashboard. You can also navigate to any contact's profile and toggle the **Auto Nurture** switch manually for individual setup.

When adding contacts, do so gradually and strategically. Avoid uploading large, unvetted lists to maintain high engagement rates and reduce spam reports. When you import contacts into RealScout, they are initially placed in the "Awaiting Nurture" section. These contacts will only receive emails if they are enrolled in nurturing and if Auto Nurture is enabled at both the account level and, where applicable, at the contact or alert level.

## Configure Auto Nurture settings

From the left-hand navigation bar, click **Automations > [Auto Nurture](https://www.realscout.com/agent/auto-nurture)**, then **Update Settings**:

**Automation Status & Mode.** If you turn Auto Nurture **ON**, your contacts will be engaged automatically. Which contacts are Auto Nurtured is determined by th Note: Auto Nurture will only work for contacts that are within your Nurtured Contacts limit. Contacts must also be enrolled in nurturing to receive emails, even if Auto Nurture is enabled.e Mode.

**_NOTE:_** _You can manually turn Auto Nurture on for individual contacts on the contact manager without turning the automation ON._

**Default Map Location & Radius.** Auto Nurture sends "Popular Homes in Your Area" emails based on your location. Center the map on the specific location where you work:

**Suppress Onboarding Email Sequence.** To have Auto Nurture create Listing Alerts and/or Home Value Alerts from actionable data only, use the **Suppress Drip Campaign** toggle. "Actionable data" includes a price range and location for Listing Alerts, or an owned home address for Home Value Alerts.

**Skip Home Value Alerts.** To prevent Auto Nurture from creating new Home Value Alerts for contacts going forward, enable the **Skip Home Value Alerts** toggle in your Auto Nurture settings.

**Fallback Templates.** If the onboarding email sequence is suppressed, a Fallback Alert is generated the following day if no actionable contact data is available. A Fallback Listing Alert and/or Fallback Market Alert also serves as a backup when Auto Nurture cannot generate an alert after several attempts, or a contact does not engage with the onboarding sequence. Scroll down to **Fallback Templates** and select your saved Alert Template from the dropdown.

## Manage and disable Auto Nurture

To manage or disable Auto Nurture for a specific contact:

For bulk management:

**Primary Email Verification.** The first email address entered on a contact record is the primary email. Primary emails undergo a verification process; if found invalid, they are paused until updated and verified.

If contacts continue receiving alerts after Auto Nurture is disabled: previously delivered emails may still be opened (reflected in activity logs); standalone alerts such as Home Value Alerts or Listing Alerts operate independently and must be managed through their respective dashboards; if a contact marks your emails as spam, archive them before resuming communication.

If a contact already has an active alert, enabling Auto Nurture is unnecessary and may lead to duplicate messaging. To avoid this, ensure Auto Nurture is disabled for such contacts.

Frequently Asked Questions

## What happens to contacts when I import them?

When you import contacts into RealScout, they are placed in the "Awaiting Nurture" section. These contacts will only receive emails if they are enrolled in nurturing and if Auto Nurture is enabled at both the account level and, where applicable, at the contact or alert level.

## What is the Nurtured Contacts limit and how do I increase it?

Your RealScout account has a limit on the number of contacts that can be nurtured at any given time. Contacts beyond this limit will remain in a non-nurtured state. To nurture additional contacts, you can increase your Nurtured Contacts limit by purchasing an optional pack through the "Increase Limit" option in your account settings.

**Does the "Skip Home Value Alerts" setting remove existing Home Value Alerts?**
No. Skip Home Value Alerts prevents Auto Nurture from creating new Home Value Alerts going forward. Any Home Value Alert that existed before you enabled the toggle continues sending on its normal schedule. To stop an existing alert, go to [Home Value Alerts](https://www.realscout.com/agent/home-reports) and delete it individually.

**A contact received a Home Value Alert after I turned on Skip Home Value Alerts. Why?**
The alert was created before you enabled the toggle. Skip Home Value Alerts only stops Auto Nurture from creating new alerts — it does not pause or delete alerts that already exist. Open [Home Value Alerts](https://www.realscout.com/agent/home-reports), find the contact, and delete the alert to stop future sends.

## How does Auto Nurture differ from Nurture?

Auto Nurture is the automation tool that assigns and manages alerts for your contacts, while "Nurture" refers to the contact status when at least one nurture tool is active. Auto Nurture facilitates the process, whereas Nurture indicates the result.

## Does disabling Auto Nurture remove a contact from the Nurtured Contacts count?

No, disabling Auto Nurture does not remove a contact from the Nurtured Contacts count. A contact is considered nurtured as long as at least one alert is active. To remove a contact from this count, you must either archive the contact or disable all alerts.
