When you’re invited to join a Proton Meet conference call, the host should send you an invite link, or attach one to the calendar invitation.

Proton Meet will open in your [browser](https://proton.me/support/meet-web-app) or in the Proton Meet app, if you have it. You can [manage camera and microphone permissions](https://proton.me/support/meet-microphone-camera) before you join.

## How to join a Proton Meet video call

### Join with a meeting link

Anyone with a meeting link can join a Proton Meet call — no accounts or apps needed. Here’s how to join using your link:

1. Click the Proton Meet link you received. All Proton Meet links start with **meet.proton.me/**.
2. (Optional) Click **Sign in** to sign in to your Proton Account, or **Create an account** to sign up for free.
3. Allow [microphone and camera access](https://proton.me/support/meet-microphone-camera) if prompted.
4. (Optional), change your display name and ask Proton Meet to remember your name on your device.
5. Select **Join meeting**.

### Join from a Proton Calendar invitation

1. Open the invite. You can do this in two ways:

- Open your Proton Mail app or go to [mail.proton.me(new window)](https://mail.proton.me/) and open the event invite. Click **Join with Proton Meet**.

- Open your Proton Calendar app or go to [calendar.proton.me(new window)](https://calendar.proton.me/) and open the meeting event. Click **Join with Proton Meet**. This will open Proton Meet in a new window on desktop, or in the [mobile app](https://proton.me/support/meet-mobile) if you have it installed.

### Join a Proton Meet call without a Proton Account

Anyone can join a Proton Meet call using an invite link — you don’t need a Proton Account.

If you receive an invitation on a non-Proton email address, simply click the meeting link in the email to join.

However, a [free Proton Account](https://account.proton.me/meet/signup) makes using Meet quicker and easier. You can:

- Use your Proton Account name as the default name for calls (you can still edit it)
- Open meeting links directly from your Proton Mail or Proton Calendar
- [Host](https://proton.me/support/meet-host) and [schedule](https://proton.me/support/meet-schedule) your own calls
- Use regular and personal [meeting rooms](https://proton.me/support/meet-rooms) for recurring and on-demand calls

## More call features

All participants on a call can [share their screen](https://proton.me/support/meet-share-screen), react with emojis, and send messages using [Proton Meet’s chat feature](https://proton.me/support/meet-chat). [Hosts](https://proton.me/support/meet-host) can also lock and unlock meetings, mute participants or turn off their camera, remove participants, and record meetings.

On [Android](https://proton.me/support/meet-mobile), you can put Proton Meet into picture-in-picture mode during a meeting to keep the call visible in a small floating window while you switch apps and do other tasks.
