#### **Program Structure**

_Thesis Track (Regular M.Sc.) -_ A two-year program combining advanced coursework with supervised research.
Students complete 30 credits and produce an M.Sc. thesis that reflects original academic work in their chosen research area.

_Non-Thesis Track -_ A coursework-based program totaling 45 credits, designed for students seeking to broaden their knowledge without conducting academic research. A final exam replaces the thesis requirement (a thesis is needed separately to continue to a Ph.D.).

_Specialized Tracks_ - The program offers specialized tracks for students interested in working at the intersection between computer science and math, or computer science and physics.

_Student Support -_ Outstanding students may be eligible for scholarships, teaching assistantships, or advisor-based support. All new students participate in an orientation session covering course selection, choosing an advisor, and planning their academic path.

_Flexibility -_ Switching between the thesis and non-thesis tracks is possible with advisor approval and completion of the relevant requirements.

Career & Networking

Graduates of the M.Sc. in Computer Science are well positioned for advanced roles across Israel’s tech ecosystem and the global industry. The program equips students with rigorous analytical skills, research experience, and deep technological understanding - qualities sought after in R&D centers, startups, academia, government labs, and innovation-driven companies. Students benefit from the Hebrew University’s strong industry connections, campus recruitment opportunities, and access to a wide alumni network working in leading organizations worldwide.

The School of Computer Science and Engineering

The Hebrew University’s School of Computer Science and Engineering is home to internationally recognized researchers and dozens of active labs exploring AI, machine learning, algorithms, computer vision, cybersecurity, systems, and more. Students learn and work alongside faculty who are shaping the field, gaining exposure to cutting-edge research directions and a vibrant academic community. The School’s multidisciplinary environment encourages curiosity, innovation, and collaboration across scientific domains.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the M.Sc. in Computer Science is competitive and based on academic excellence. Applicants are expected to hold a B.Sc. in Computer Science or a closely related field, with a strong background in core areas such as algorithms, data structures, mathematics, and programming. The grade point average treshold for admission is adjusted periodically, and each application file is also considered in comparison to other applications submitted in the same cycle. In recent years, students with a grade point average lower than 87 were very seldom admitted. In some cases, even applications with higher grade point averages were rejected. Additional requirements may include prerequisite coursework, and supporting documents such as transcripts and letters of recommendation. Full details can be found in the University’s [course catalog](https://catalog.huji.ac.il/pages/WebChugInfoNew.aspx?year=2025&faculty=12&entityId=532&degreeCode=72&language=en) and [admissions guidelines](https://registration.huji.ac.il/en/).

Tuition & Scholarships

Tuition fees follow the standard graduate tuition rates set by the Hebrew University. A range of funding opportunities is available for outstanding M.Sc. students, including scholarships, fellowships, and teaching assistantships. Thesis-track students often receive financial support from their advisors, and the School offers special support packages for exceptional first-year students. These opportunities are designed to help students focus on their studies and research.
