The XTEINK X4 Pro e-reader is now available and ready to order from the company’s website for around $99. It is designed as a premium alternative to the original minimalist XTEINK X4; it introduces highly requested modern features while maintaining its ultra-portable, distraction-free identity. The big selling points are the new touchscreen and front-lit display, two features that are sure to impress; however, it no longer has a USB-C port.

The X4 Pro features a 4.3-inch E-Ink touchscreen with a resolution of 220 PPI. The lighting system is the most anticipated upgrade. It allows you to read comfortably in the dark or in low-light environments without needing a separate clip-on reading lamp. Despite adding layers for the light and touch sensors, the Pro model measures an incredibly slim 5.98mm, making it slightly thinner than the original X4’s 6.4mm. It retains its physical page-turn buttons alongside the new touchscreen, giving you tactile control when flipping pages.

There will be 16 GB of fixed internal memory for reading e-books, but it is an SD card and it is capable of storing up to 256GB. There is a paltry 8MB RAM and Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth. It is powered by a 1100mAh battery, which should be enough for a month of reading. Unlike the standard USB-C on the first-generation X4, the X4 Pro utilizes a magnetic bespoke/pogo-pin charging cable (using a USB-C adapter). The native software supports ebooks in TXT, EPUB, MOBI, and PDF formats, along with JPG and PNG image formats.
