**Rhone** is an atheleisure and activewear apparel brand founded in 2014 by brothers Nate and Ben Checketts. It is named after the [Rhône](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rh%C3%B4ne "Rhône") river and region in [France](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France "France") known for its historical significance and aesthetic beauty.[\[1\]](#cite_note-Story-1)

Rhone was founded by brothers Nate and Ben Checketts, along with Casey Edgar, Kyle McClure and Carras Holmstead.[\[2\]](#cite_note-Ruden-2) Initially launched as a [web-only retailer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-commerce "E-commerce"), Rhone later partnered with [Bloomingdale's](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloomingdale's "Bloomingdale's") in November 2014, expanding its sales to five locations. In 2015, the company's products were stocked in a total of 127 locations, including retailers such as [Nordstrom](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordstrom "Nordstrom"), [Equinox](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox "Equinox"), and [CorePower Yoga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CorePower_Yoga "CorePower Yoga").[\[3\]](#cite_note-Retailer-3) In November 2015, Rhone generated 62% of its total annual revenue for 2014.[\[4\]](#cite_note-Bloomberg-4)

In September 2015, Rhone announced the closing of a $5 million [Series A financing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_A_round "Series A round") round, with investments from individuals in sports, media, and fashion industries.[\[5\]](#cite_note-Forbes-5) Since its inception, Rhone has raised a total of $6.2 million in funding.[\[3\]](#cite_note-Retailer-3) In February 2016, the company acquired a building in [Stamford](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stamford,_Connecticut "Stamford, Connecticut"), Connecticut to serve as its new headquarters.[\[6\]](#cite_note-Stamford-6)

In 2026 the company launched its ReRhone e-commerce site to sell customer returns that have been vetted by the company.[\[7\]](#cite_note-7)[\[8\]](#cite_note-8)[\[9\]](#cite_note-9)

## Profile and products

\[[edit](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rhone_Apparel&action=edit&section=2 "Edit section: Profile and products")\]

Rhone primarily manufactures and sells activewear. The company uses fabrics like [organic cotton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_cotton "Organic cotton"), recycled [polyester](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyester "Polyester"), [merino wool](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merino_wool "Merino wool"), and [modal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modal_\(textile\) "Modal (textile)") in their products. Many of the company's offerings include [antimicrobial](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimicrobial "Antimicrobial") and [breathable](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breathability "Breathability") fabrics.[\[5\]](#cite_note-Forbes-5)[\[10\]](#cite_note-10)[\[11\]](#cite_note-News-11) [Flatlock stitching](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overlock "Overlock"), where the seams lie flat with edges of fabric butting together rather than folding together, is used to avoid [chafing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chafing_\(skin\) "Chafing (skin)").[\[4\]](#cite_note-Bloomberg-4)

Originally focused on men's activewear, Rhone began selling a permanent line of women's activewear in April 2024,[\[12\]](#cite_note-12) after having offered temporary women's collections in the past.[\[13\]](#cite_note-13)

The company sometimes stitches or adheres inspirational messages onto its products, such as "Don't Die Without a Few Scars" or "What We Do in Life Echoes in Eternity."[\[14\]](#cite_note-Jeans-14)
