**QF-Test** from Quality First Software is a [cross-platform software](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-platform_software "Cross-platform software") tool for automated testing of programs via the [graphical user interface](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphical_user_interface "Graphical user interface") (GUI) [test automation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_automation "Test automation")). The program is specialized on ([Java/Swing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swing_\(Java\) "Swing (Java)"), [Standard Widget Toolkit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Widget_Toolkit "Standard Widget Toolkit") (SWT), Eclipse [plug-ins](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plug-in_\(computing\) "Plug-in (computing)") and [rich client platform](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_client_platform "Rich client platform") (RCP) applications, ULC and [JavaFX](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaFX "JavaFX")) cross-[web browser](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_browser "Web browser") test automation of static and dynamic [web applications](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_application "Web application") ([HTML](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML "HTML") and web frameworks like Angular, [Ext JS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext_JS "Ext JS"), Fluent UI React, [Google Web Toolkit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Web_Toolkit "Google Web Toolkit") (GWT), [jQuery UI](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JQuery_UI "JQuery UI"), jQueryEasyUI [Remote Application Platform](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Application_Platform "Remote Application Platform") (RAP), [Qooxdoo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qooxdoo "Qooxdoo"), [RichFaces](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RichFaces "RichFaces"), [Vaadin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaadin "Vaadin"), React, Smart GWT, Vue.js, [ICEfaces](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICEfaces "ICEfaces") and [ZK](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZK_\(framework\) "ZK (framework)")). Version 4.1 added support for [macOS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOS "MacOS") and the [Apple Safari](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Safari "Apple Safari") and [Microsoft Edge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Edge "Microsoft Edge") browsers via the Selenium WebDriver. Representational State Transfer ([RESTful](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REST "REST")) [web service](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_service "Web service") testing. From version 5.0, Windows applications can also be tested (classic Win32 applications, [.NET](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET ".NET") framework applications (often developed in [C#](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_Sharp_\(programming_language\) "C Sharp (programming language)")) based on Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) or [Windows Forms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Forms "Windows Forms"), [Windows apps](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_apps "Windows apps") and [Universal Windows Platform](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Windows_Platform "Universal Windows Platform") (UWP) applications using [Extensible Application Markup Language](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Application_Markup_Language "Extensible Application Markup Language") (XAML) controls) and modern [C++](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C++ "C++") applications (such as [Qt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qt_\(software\) "Qt (software)") applications). Version 5.3 added support for the Chrome DevTools protocol, which allows browsers to be controlled using CDP drivers. Since then, mobile testing for iOS and [Android](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_\(operating_system\) "Android (operating system)"), [accessibility testing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Accessibility_Directive "Web Accessibility Directive") of web applications and SmartID, a new approach for more flexible and robust component recognition, have been introduced. Powerful enhancements such as [WebAPI testing](https://www.qftest.com/en/product/qf-test/web-testing/api.html) and AI-assisted validation complement the test automation tool.

**QF-Test** (the successor of _qftestJUI_, available since 2001) enables [regression](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regression_testing "Regression testing") and [load testing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Load_testing "Load testing") and runs on [Windows](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows "Microsoft Windows"), [Unix](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix "Unix") and [macOS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacOS "MacOS"). It is mainly used commercially by testers, developers or business analysts (modelling, low code approaches) with or without programming knowledge as part of software [Quality Assurance](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quality_assurance "Quality assurance"). Since December 2008, a webtest add-on is available which allows [test automation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_automation "Test automation") of browser-based GUIs (such as [Internet Explorer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer "Internet Explorer"), Mozilla [Firefox](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox "Firefox"), [Google Chrome](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome "Google Chrome"), Apple [Safari](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safari_\(web_browser\) "Safari (web browser)"), and [Microsoft Edge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Edge "Microsoft Edge")) along with extant Java GUI test functions, which was extended to include JavaFX in July 2014. From 2018, QF-Test version 4.2 can test PDF documents, from 2020 native desktop applications (QF-Test version 5) and in 2022, mobile application testing will be added. The basis for efficient use in test automation is stable component recognition (IDs, logical screen elements, labels, CustomWebResolver, SmartID, ...) with low maintenance effort.

_General_ – QF-Test's capture/replay function enables recording of tests for beginners, while [modular programming](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modular_programming "Modular programming") (modularizing) allows creating large test suites in a concise arrangement. For the advanced user who requires even more control over his application, the tool offers access to internal program structures through the standard [scripting languages](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scripting_language "Scripting language") [Jython](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jython "Jython"), the [Java](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_\(programming_language\) "Java (programming language)") implementation of the popular [Python](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_\(programming_language\) "Python (programming language)") language, [JavaScript](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript "JavaScript"), and [Groovy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groovy_\(programming_language\) "Groovy (programming language)").

The tool also offers a [batch processing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batch_processing "Batch processing") mode, allowing to run tests unattended and then generate [XML](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XML "XML"), [HTML](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML "HTML") and [JUnit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JUnit "JUnit") reports. Thus the tool can be integrated into existing build/test frameworks like [Jenkins](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenkins_\(software\) "Jenkins (software)"), [Ant](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Ant "Apache Ant") or [Maven](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Maven "Apache Maven"). Another mode is the so-called [Daemon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daemon_\(computing\) "Daemon (computing)") mode for distributed test execution.

A specific integration with many [test management tools](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Test_management_tool "Test management tool") exists. There is a test [debugger](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debugger "Debugger") (enabling arbitrary stepping and editing variables at [runtime](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execution_\(computing\)#Runtime "Execution (computing)")) and a fully automated dependency management that takes care of pre- and postconditions and helps isolating test cases. [Data-driven testing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data-driven_testing "Data-driven testing") with no need for scripting is possible.

1. Web testing: cross-browser on [Internet Explorer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Explorer "Internet Explorer"), [Chrome](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome "Google Chrome"), [Firefox](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox "Firefox"), [Microsoft Edge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Edge "Microsoft Edge") (including Chromium-based), [Opera](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_\(web_browser\) "Opera (web browser)") and [Safari](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safari_browser "Safari browser") for static and dynamic websites ([HTML5](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5 "HTML5"), [Ajax](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ajax_\(programming\) "Ajax (programming)"), DOM). A headless browser can also be used for testing. QF-Test fully supports frameworks like Angular, [React](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/React_\(software\) "React (software)") and [Vue.js](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vue.js "Vue.js"), but also many specific UI toolkits like Smart (GWT), GXT/ExtGWT, ExtJS, ICEfaces, jQuery UI, Kendo UI, PrimeFaces, Qooxdoo, RAP, RichFaces, Vaadin and ZK. Easy integration with Selenium makes it easy to balance development and functional testing. [Electron](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron_\(software_framework\) "Electron (software framework)") applications can also be tested. Other (e.g., [SAP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP "SAP") UI5, Siebel Open UI, Salesforce) and future web toolkits can be integrated with little effort. Short-term and individual customisations (CustomWebResolver) are possible via an optimised interface
2. [JavaFX](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaFX "JavaFX"), [Java Swing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Swing "Java Swing"), SWT, [Eclipse](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eclipse_\(software\) "Eclipse (software)") plug-ins and RCP applications and ULC. Support for testing when migrating from JavaSwing or JavaFX to web applications (e.g. via Webswing).
3. Hybrid applications based on multiple technologies are also supported, e.g. applications that integrate HTML content into Java applications using JxBrowser.
4. Windows-based applications ([Win32](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Win32 "Win32"), [.NET](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.NET ".NET"), [Windows Forms](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Forms "Windows Forms"), WPF, [Windows apps](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_apps "Windows apps"), [Qt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qt_\(software\) "Qt (software)")).
5. [Android](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_\(operating_system\) "Android (operating system)") applications can be tested on real devices and with the [Android Studio](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_Studio "Android Studio") emulator.[\[1\]](#cite_note-1)
6. [iOS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS "IOS") applications can also be tested on real devices and with the [Xcode](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xcode "Xcode") Simulator.[\[2\]](#cite_note-2)
7. Testing of [PDF](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDF "PDF") documents (document comparisons, checking content, texts, images/graphic objects, layouts, "invisible" or partially hidden objects).
8. QF-Test 9 introduces [web accessibility](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_accessibility "Web accessibility") testing to automatically check compliance with WCAG and other standards.
9. QF-Test 10 introduces powerful enhancements for [WebAPI testing and AI-assisted validation](https://www.qftest.com/en/product/release-notes-roadmap.html).
10. With [QF-Test 11](https://www.qftest.com/en/product/release-notes-roadmap.html) test cases can be generated using AI, AI instructions can be embedded into test runs, and custom applications can be made MCP-compatible.
