### Make money doing the work you believe in

I've spoken to more than one dozen service members on board the USS Abraham Lincoln and other aircraft carriers in the Middle East.

I've seen prison inmates receiving better meals than some of the food served on these ships. All the while, the President is gaslighting families.

If only the men in the Epstein files were accused of non violent academic plagiarism and embellishing stories! Then we may have done something about them. But they were just white cannibal pedophiles so we moved on from all that pretty quick.

I upgraded to paid subscriber on two more Substacks yesterday. If you can afford it—not everybody can—you should support trustworthy and talented people on this platform.

The indie economy is very important to our culture right now, but also quite fragile. At Substack, we are on the front lines of the battle.

This is the place where readers and writers work together to counter the collapse happening now in institutional culture. If alternative platforms start shrinking and faltering, we will be in very bad shape indeed.

How bad do you want it to happen?

The right wing media smear machine was hunting me for weeks before suddenly changing direction towards Jason Arday. Their attack left me bedridden, and killed him. I wonder who the next person of colour on their chopping block shall be? I’m so horrified for him, for his family, and to the many kids he was an inspiration to.
